Weekend Scene: Spring Break Edition

Enjoy a week full of art, music and drinks of your choice -- even if you aren’t on a tropical spring break trip.

If you weren’t lucky enough to get invited to a fraternity’s spring break filled with American flag bikinis, shot glasses attached to beaded necklaces and monotonous Top-40 hits drowning out the calming sound of a nearby ocean – have no fear, because there’s plenty to do in D.C. Enjoy a week full of art, music and praying for my safety right here in the district.

D.C. Whiskey Walk

The Whiskey Walk includes tastings of whiskey such as Paddy, Teeling and The Dubliner at eight irish bars in Dupont. Each bar will also have drink and food specials. Tickets are $55 and include whiskey tastings at each bar.

When: March 3, 3 p.m.

#thisiswhyimsingle exhibit at Flashpoint Gallery

Dafna Steinberg, Jennifer Towner and Jenny Walton use their experiences with dating-apps and attempts at love to create the exhibit, #thisiswhyimsingle. The exhibit examines the roles women, men and technology play in today’s world of dating. Admission is free.

When: Tuesday to Saturday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. through March 19th

Open Mic Night at Gypsy Sally’s

Spend your spring break becoming a star. This Tuesday, bring your musical act to Gypsy Sally’s for open mic night. Even if you can’t sing, enjoy discounted drinks if you perform.

When: March 8, 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Where: 3401 K street, NW

Metro: Blue, Orange, Silver, Foggy Bottom

Breadsoda Happy Hour

Most Wednesday evenings, you’re most likely pretending to do your readings for class. But this Wednesday, there is no need. Walk to nearby Breadsoda for their evening happy hour with free games and cheap drinks.

When: March 9, 4 p.m.to 2 a.m.

Where: 2233 Wisconsin Ave, NW
