Ambassador Susan Rice will guest coach the women’s basketball team Saturday against Army West Point, the Athletic Department announced in an email Wednesday. Rice is the former National Security Advisor for Barack Obama and a former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
Rice, who serves as a Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow in the School of International Service, will be the second guest coach for the Eagles in their last three home games. University president Sylvia Burwell served as a guest coach for AU’s Jan. 20 victory over Boston University.
Before working under the Obama administration, Rice served on the staff of the National Security Council and as the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during President Bill Clinton’s second term.
Women’s basketball is currently undefeated in Patriot League play (10-0) and sit at the top of the league standings with a record of 17-4. The Eagles’ game against Army tips off at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
