Radha Muthiah, Elhadj As Sy, Colman Domingo, Almar Latour, Orlando Bravo and Gloria Allred will be American University’s commencement speakers for the spring 2025 graduation ceremonies, the University announced Wednesday.
Radha Muthiah, president and chief executive officer of the Capital Area Food Bank, will address graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences Friday, May 9 at 9 a.m.
Later that day, Elhadj As Sy, the former secretary general of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and current chair of the board at the Kofi Annan Foundation, will speak at the School of International Service ceremony at 2 p.m.
Two-time Academy Award and Tony nominee Colman Domingo will address the School of Public Affairs graduates on Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m. Domingo rose to fame through his portrayals of Bayard Rustin in “Rustin” and Divine G. in “Sing Sing.”
Publisher of The Wall Street Journal, chief executive officer of Dow Jones and alumnus Almar Latour, SOC/MA ‘96, will address the School of Education and the School of Communication on Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m.
Orlando Bravo, founder and managing partner of Thoma Bravo, will address the Kogod School of Business on Saturday, May 10 at 6 p.m.
Attorney and National Women’s Hall of Fame member Gloria Allred will speak to the graduating class of Washington College of Law on Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m.
“Each of our honorees has made lasting impacts in communities around the world and they exemplify our charge to ‘dream big,’” University President Jonathan Alger said in the press release. “They will further inspire our graduating Eagles as they begin their own journeys and fulfill their unique big dreams.”
The 149th Commencement ceremonies will take place in Bender Arena and will be livestreamed.
