Bourbon Coffee to open in Tenleytown this week

A Bourbon Coffee store in Boston (Bourbon Coffee).

Bourbon Coffee is set to open at 4200 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Tenleytown this week, the company told District Wire, next to the AU Greenberg Theatre and Sullivan’s Toys & Art Supplies.

“The store is ready and we are just awaiting final inspections prior to opening,” the company’s operations manager, Ryan Barker, wrote in an email.

The coffee joint will join Starbucks and Coffee Nature as the third coffee shop in the area. The company already has stores at Capitol Hill and Foggy Bottom.

Bourbon Coffee opened its first shop in Kigali, Rwanda in 2007 and buys coffee beans directly from growers in the African country, according to its website.

“We are an international brand of specialty coffee, and the first retail brand to originate from Africa,” the company’s website says. “Our stores are built around the philosophy of producing coffee from ‘crop to cup.’”
