DCist was once the central source of news for many D.C. locals. But on Feb. 23, WAMU — an NPR-affiliate station owned by American University, which bought DCist in 2018 — announced that it was shutting down the online news site and laying off 15 employees. According to the station’s general manager, this change was to shift its focus toward more audio production rather than digital news.

For more than three hours on March 22, organizers from American University’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine read the names and ages of children killed in the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip while over a dozen members lay on the ground. Beginning with children aged zero and continuing in age order, the readers had only reached the names of eight-year-old children by the end of the demonstration.

If anyone knows soccer inside and out, it’s Ethan Boyle. The senior midfielder from Denver has been surrounded by the sport his whole life. Boyle’s dad Robert, played Division I soccer at Bowling Green State University. His uncle Bill also played DI soccer and has multiple coaching experiences at the DI level and currently coaches at Niagara University.
