Summer in LA returns

The School of Communication will jump-start its “Summer in Los Angeles Program” next year after a brief hiatus and will incorporate AU students outside SOC while lowering the cost of the program, according to David Lieberson, a student publicist for the program.

Board of Elections throws Habash off ballot for the second time

Student Government presidential candidate Nirvana Habash was again thrown off the ballot after the Board of Elections voted that she had violated the rules and did deserve to be taken off the ballot. However, Habash can still campaign and will run as a write-in candidate. She can also appeal the decision to the Judicial Board. • Earlier: Habash to defend her campaign’s action


ELECTORAL COLLEGE? — SG presidential candidate Nirvana Habash was disqualified from the race after rules violations. On appeal, the decision was overturned because she was not given due process. She says she plans to speak with Student Activities today.

Habash to defend her campaign’s action

While the SG Judicial Board ruled early Thursday morning that SG presidential candidate Nirvana Habash did indeed violate campaign rules, Habash may meet with the Board of Elections sometime Thursday — and could overturn her violation. The BOE suggested disqualifying Habash Wednesday morning in response to e-mails sent out in connection with her campaign that violated regulations for the candidates.




SPEECHWRITER SPEAKS — At MGC Tuesday night, Ted Sorensen addressed AU students about writing speeches for former U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Sorensen said he was happy to be back on campus and that he has fond memories of his two previous visits. He was present for two past AU commencement addresses, both of which he wrote and one of which he gave.

JFK Adviser Ted Sorensen recalls AU commencement speeches

Ted Sorensen, a former speechwriter for and adviser to President John F. Kennedy, reflected on Kennedy’s presidency and the art of speechwriting Tuesday night. Sorensen spoke in the Mary Graydon Center University Club at a College Democrats event co-sponsored by the Student Government and the AUCC.

Tea Party: The people's surge on D.C.

Tea Party members and sympathizers from across the East Coast participated Tuesday in the “People’s Surge Against Obamacare,” where Tea Party members expressed their discontent on the health care bill.
