The Audition "Controversy Loves Company" (Victory Records) Sounds Like: Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is B It seems as though the pop/punk sensibility of Blink 182 has faded away into mere memories of our teenage pasts. However, a new batch of so called punksters has emerged from the ashes of the post-teenybopper movement and has bombarded the music scene with images of young kids rocking out in tight, high-collared Lacoste shirts and ripped jeans.

Witches and bakers and beanstalks ... oh my! Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods" tells the story of the struggle of a baker and his wife to reverse a curse placed on them by the witch next door, which prevents them from having a child. They must go into the woods to get the materials the witch needs to end the spell, and while on their journey they come in contact with various fairy tale characters.

Quad watching is a favorite pastime for many AU students. Also, it is often a refresher course in fashion hits and misses. The lines of fashion have become blurred and many have fallen prey to the myth that if something feels good then it also looks good.

"That'll teach you to wear such a huge belt buckle, Dan." -One overweight man overheard regarding another during a sumptuous, $16.95 all-you-can-eat buffet meal at the Flamingo Resort and Casino, Las Vegas. Anheuser-Busch, which has been promoting "Bud-Pong" since July, is now saying that it meant for the game to be played with water the whole time.

Film may 'Doom' dates

He said ... B+ There are three facts in life: Queen Latifah is a goddess, "Mighty Ducks 3" sucks, and if a scientific laboratory becomes a place of monsters and deranged human beings, The Rock has to be the one to save the day. Luckily, the film "Doom," based on the popular video game, supports at least one of these facts.

Ravi and Anoushka Shankar impress Strathmore crowd

Standing ovations were commonplace on Sunday as sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar performed at the Strathmore Music Center. The sold out show was filled with an eclectic audience, from sari-clad women to enthusiastic ex-hippies. The two-part performance featured Ravi Shankar and his daughter, Anoushka Shankar, as well as talented musicians playing an assortment of classical Indian instruments.

Fall Out Boy rises from obscurity to major label

To call Fall Out Boy an emerging band would be to imply they have some kinks to work out. But it seems the band, now six-years-old, has finally found what works for them. Their new album, "From Under the Cork Tree," was their first release under a major record label and was met with critical acclaim.

James Bond, Maxwell Smart, Austin Powers: these are the names that come to most Americans' minds when they think about international men of mystery. "Hilda," written by French novelist Marie Ndiaya and directed by Carey Perloff, begins with the wealthy Mrs. Lemarchand (Ellen Karas) seeking to employ Hilda as a maid through her husband, Frank (Michael Earle). Though the audience never actually meets Hilda, they quickly become aware that she is now the obsession of the very dominating and controlling Mrs.

1. "The Simpsons," Arabic Style One of America's favorite cartoon families has made it to the screens of televisions in the United Arab Emirates. "The Simpsons," or "Al Shamshoon," debuted on MBC, a satellite television network, earlier this month. This version, however, features lovable dad Omar Shamshoon, who doesn't consume beer or bacon, which are against the Islamic religion, or hang out at the seedy Moe's Tavern.

While watching "Waiting...," a new comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, the audience will probably start to have thoughts that evoke the movie's title. American Five gets political at Katzen

The Katzen Arts Centers' Oct. 14 inaugural performance went on in front of a capacity crowd in the Abramson Family Recital Hall. The concert, titled "The American Five" for the five AU faculty composers that were part of it, featured a plethora of diverse instrumentation, synthesized musical technology and even a politically charged presentation, making for an engaging but often uneven performance.

Journey to Poland definitely worth a million Zlotych
