'Amityville' is so bad it's scary

·

One of the most hilarious scenes in Andrew Douglas' remake of 1979's "The Amityville Horror" is when the priest who took it upon himself to bless the haunted house of Amityville is accosted by flies and gets the hell out of there. In "The Exorcist," Father Dyer is totally down with giving his life to get the devil out of that kid.

After falling into Staccato late on a Friday night, however, everyone will learn that, yes, such a place exists. A random collection of people water at this dive - and it's a dive, but in all the right ways.

Quad conduct: do Eric Friedheim proud

1) Ditch Quad copulation Where there's a will, impassioned couples will find a way. However, dry humping, excessive moaning/grinding and make-out sessions lasting longer than 10 seconds should be reserved for the secluded Butler Garden. There, plenty of bench space (or mulch space, if one happens to be into that) is conveniently concealed in a romantic display of spring foliage.

Learn to handle flawed real world

Crammed into the kitchen with five high-pitched girls from Wisconsin has made microwaving broccoli a dangerous task. Dangerous for my frayed nerves and possibly dangerous for these girls, who are not even cooking, but laughing, leaning on the counter and gulping up what miniscule portion of space there is in this kitchen that could be described more accurately as a kitchenette, or a crawl space.

The Dresden Dolls bring Tavern to life

Ah, The Tavern. What can the bands that play here possibly think when they step into the fluorescent lights and whirring blenders of the beloved eatery. It seems like a place where good music would be impossible to hear and where quality would have to be checked at the door, as the idea of hearing great music opposite a Chick-fil-A and next to a Jamba Juice is a little weird.
