Celebrating Anti-Valentine’s Day with style in the District

Today’s incarnation of Valentine’s Day is a holiday created by greeting card companies. The plump image of Cupid, the mass-produced cards and the silly hearts on candies are so shallow and superficial that it’s nauseating. Anti-Valentine’s Day celebrations are a part of a growing movement against the hypocritical holiday of Saint Valentine’s.

DAYS OF LOVE— This Valentine’s Day, post up in your room with whomever you please to watch some memorable films of late that Hollywood has produced. Whether it be “500 Days of Summer” or “Love Actually,” have some tissues handy.

New NBC show reveals celebrity ancestry

Desmond Tutu once said, “You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.” This is poignant when thinking of NBC’s new TV show “Who Do You Think You Are?”, an hourly reality program that takes celebrities and shows them their family history. “Who Do You Think You Are?” is produced by former “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow and is a partnership between NBC Entertainment and Ancestry.com, the latter helping to do genealogy research.

AU student uses planes, trains to travel cheaply across Europe

As I stood lost in the pouring rain on the streets of Paris at 3 a.m., my French-speaking friend re-booked on a different flight and my phone minutes officially used up, I could not help but laugh. No, I hadn’t gone insane. However my?chronic lack of sleep?and airport diet of peanut M&Ms (hey, they have protein!) probably didn’t help either.
