Men's hoops to 5-2 on season with win over NJIT Wednesday

Seniors Arvydas Eitutavicius, Linas Lekavicius and Paulius Joneliunas all scored in double figures to lead the Eagles to their third consecutive home victory on Wednesday night at Bender Arena. The Eagles lead by just four at the half, but went on an 8-0 run that was capped off by a Joneliunas dunk.

Volleyball pressures No. 1 Nebraska in NCAA first-round loss

In an encouraging loss that left both sides talking, the AU women's volleyball team was defeated by No. 1 Nebraska on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but not before pulling out a team win of their own. The Eagles, who would eventually fall 3-1 to the Cornhuskers, became the first team to win a game against Nebraska in the first round of the tournament since 1992 and the second team this season to force a fourth game on the top-ranked team at home.

AU 81 - Loyola (Md.) 74 Andre Ingram scored 22 points and the Eagles survived a second half surge by Loyola's Gerald Brown to defeat the Greyhounds last Monday at Bender Arena, avenging a 68-60 loss last season at Loyola. "They handed it to us pretty good last year," said AU coach Jeff Jones.

Women's hoops snaps five-game losing streak

The AU women's basketball team was able to pull out a win by a razor-thin margin Tuesday night with a 61-60 victory over UMBC to snap a five-game losing streak. The win was the Eagles' first at Bender Arena this season, improving their overall record to 2-5.

Volleyball wins sixth straight PL tournament

Led by a strong attack and dominating court presence, the AU women's volleyball team won their sixth straight Patriot League championship title on Saturday night, defeating Bucknell in three straight sets - 30-22, 30-21 and 30-20. The Eagles looked nervous early in the first match, falling into an early 2-0 hole before regaining their composure and control of the game.

Men's basketball falls to Richmond for first loss

Richmond freshman Brian Morris scored 15 points, including two three-pointers in the final four minutes, to lead the Spiders to a 61-50 come-from-behind victory over AU on Friday night in Richmond. The Eagles led by as many as seven points in the second half, but Richmond went on a 12-2 run to take the lead.

Offense rolls in men's basketball home opener

AU 97, Morgan State 84 Andre Ingram and Garrison Carr each hit five three-pointers and Derrick Mercer dished out 11 assists to lead AU to a 97-84 victory over Morgan State on Tuesday night at Bender Arena. A strong shooting performance by the Eagles, who hit 11 of 18 from three-point range, allowed AU to hold a double-digit lead for most of the game, an encouraging sign for a team that struggled to find consistent offense last season.
