Too many drugs take down stars

Too many sports superstars are getting involved with drugs. These superstars are role models to children and heroes to everyone. This means that these athletes have to take on the ultimate societal responsibility of influencing the future. Whether these athletes like it or not, their every move and action is watched, and judged, by the public.

Sports heroes fall off pedestals

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Each week it seems one of our fabled heroes falls from his lofty perch and crashes hard back to earth as we, the once faithful followers, point our fingers and shake our heads in disappointment and shame. This month, it was Michael Phelps and Alex Rodriguez.

Deadline move a must

The Capitals haven't had a consistent roster all year and it doesn't look as if they will have one anytime soon. With Captain Chris Clark on the injured reserve and the trade deadline approaching the Caps are looking to fill some important holes. The biggest hole the team needs to fill is on the blue line.

White Sox, Indians lead Central

Believe it or not, there is baseball to talk about that has nothing to do with Alex Rodriguez. Pitchers and catchers are starting to report, so let's all take a break from thinking up new steroid-themed nicknames and talk about the only division in the AL to avoid A-Rod, the AL Central: Last year, the top two teams, the Twins and White Sox, were so close, they forced a one game playoff.

A-Roid positively proves no good players left in baseball

This one hurts the most. It's the final slap to the face of passionate baseball fans who live in the cities where the game is played, craved and loved the most. It's a swift kick to the groin from the 11-year monster that grew out of the selfishness and greed of baseball's biggest sluggers and hardest throwers.

Nats falling flat

Since the Nationals arrived in D.C. in 2005, the team has performed poorly and has failed to create a buzz throughout the District. Last season, the Nationals lost a league high of 102 games and finished an abysmal 32.5 games out of first place in the National League East.

Best division in MLB?

Pitchers and catchers report in less than two weeks, so it's time to start looking towards the 2009 season. This week's division preview: AL East. The AL East will be the division to watch in baseball this upcoming season because it has arguably the best three teams in the American League (and maybe all of baseball).

D.C. hoops struggle

When are D.C.'s winning woes going to end? In the fall, the Nationals finished in last place in Major League Baseball with a record of 59-102. Even with a new, state-of-the-art stadium, the Nationals could not muster enough fan support or talent to put up a fight against the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Florida Marlins and Atlanta Braves of the NL East.
