American's loss to Navy puts the Eagles down 0-1 in PL play.

Women's soccer falls to No. 25 Navy, 2-0

The AU women's soccer team fell to No. 25 Navy on Saturday, losing 2-0 in their first Patriot League match of the season. The Eagles were able to hold the Midshipmen to a scoreless tie for the first 30 minutes of play. Navy's Sam Schroth assisted a CiAnna Weikle header in the 32nd minute to put the Midshipmen up 1-0.

Slide continues into Patriot League play for men's soccer

Winless in their previous four matches, the AU men's soccer team continued their downslide on Saturday with a 4-0 loss at Lehigh. The game remained scoreless through the 17th minute, when Lehigh's Kyle Evans scored off an assist from Robert Quinlan to put the Mountain Hawks up 1-0.

The Infante sisters scored three goals to help AU beat Colgate.

Field hockey's Jennings picked to coach U.S. national team

Field hockey head coach Steve Jennings took a temporary hiatus from his AU coaching responsibilities for the U.S. national team this past month, helping lead the squad into competition against the best teams in the world at the 2006 World Cup in Madrid. Coach Jennings was named as the team manager for the international tournament, the only collegiate coach named to the coaching staff.

Cross country gets literal for weekend road trip to Oregon, Virginia meets

The AU cross country team split up this weekend, with half of the men's team traveling to Eugene, Ore., to compete in the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Friday, while the rest of the team ran at the George Mason Invitational in Manassas, Va. Senior Conor Lanz led the AU contingent to a 12th place finish in the 8K event in Oregon.

First home loss snaps field hockey streak

The 11th-ranked AU Eagles (7-3-0) fell behind early and were unable to overcome a 3-1 halftime deficit on Sunday, falling to the No. 21 Richmond Spiders (5-3-0) by a score of 3-2 at the William I. Jennings Recreational Complex. The Spiders got off to a fast start against AU, scoring on a deflection off a penalty corner.

The Eagles have dropped three of their last four games.

Women's soccer looks to stop slump after loss to GW; record now 4-3-1

After starting the season 4-0, the Lady Eagles soccer team has fallen into a slump. Tuesday afternoon's 2-1 loss at George Washington was the third loss in four matches for the team, whose record has dropped to 4-3-1. Although the Eagles dominated in possession, corner kicks and shots, a Colonial goal with four minutes to play proved fatal to the struggling team from American.

For some freshmen, it takes a few weeks to adjust to life away at college. For Savannah Graybill, it took 47 minutes and 28 seconds. Graybill, a forward on the AU field hockey team, came off the bench in the first game of the season at Cal and scored two goals.

Women's soccer blanked in scoreless tie

The American University women's soccer team faced Columbia on Friday afternoon, battling the Lions to an overtime finish that resulted in a scoreless tie. The Eagles had trouble controlling possession throughout the first half, trading sides with the Lions as both teams made several shots without scoring.
