Eagles net another PL victory

After falling from the clouds last weekend with its first loss in nine games, the AU Women's Soccer team wasted little time in returning to flight. The Eagles (8-2-1, 2-1-0 PL) resumed their winning ways Tuesday in vital fashion, snatching a 1-0 win over preseason Patriot League favorites Navy (6-5-1, 0-3-0) on a clinical free-kick goal from sophomore midfielder Meg Runeari.

AU sweep again for 5th straight

Led by junior Cutrina Biddulph's career-high 19 kills, the AU Volleyball team continued to roll on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Howard University. Dating back to Sept. 18, the Eagles have swept their last five matches. Coach Barry Goldberg is pleased to see his team coming together for the bulk of the upcoming Patriot League regular season.

The No. 10 AU Field Hockey team received a scare Wednesday, but ultimately fought off what looked on paper to be an unimposing James Madison team, 4-3. New addition Denise Infante scored twice to lead the Eagles (8-2-0) to victory over the Dukes (2-9-0) on the University of Maryland field, AU's home away from home in College Park, Md.

According to the roster he was the smallest player on the field, but what the roster doesn't say is that he also has one of the biggest hearts on the team. One wouldn't have known it, though, because Freddy Llerena played so much bigger than the 5 feet 7 inches he is listed as on the roster.

On Tuesday, the AU Women's Soccer team continued its best season start in history, dropping host George Washington, 1-0, on a late first-half goal from senior forward Marcela Ricupero. The Eagles (8-1-1 overall) haven't lost since their second match of the season on Sept. 4, going 7-0-1 in that stretch.
