AU Women's Basketball lost a close contest on Saturday to No. 25 Arizona by a score of 75-63, then came back Sunday to rout Utah State 60-41. Both games were part of the Fiesta Bowl Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona.

The team on the losing end of a 3-0 volleyball match doesn't always have much to be happy about. AU was an exception Friday night in College Park, Md., in its first-round match with No. 25 Maryland in the NCAA Tournament before a loud crowd of 1,012, about a fifth were Eagles fans.

Silver lining for Mens' Basketball

It took longer than they would have liked, but after tough losses at home against Delaware on Nov. 26 and at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, the Eagles snatched their first win of the season with an 83-69 win at Radford Tuesday. AU moves to 1-3 with the win while Radford drops to 3-2.

Eagles down the Mount

The AU Women's Basketball team bounced back from its first defeat of the season to beat Mount St. Mary's 72-62 Wednesday night in Emmittsburg, Md., to improve its record to 3-1 on the young season. The Eagles were led by Chanel Spriggs, who bounced back from a rough shooting game to score 16 points and lead a balanced Eagles attack, which featured five double-digit scorers.

"I recruited some solid blue-collar players, secured a position in the reforming Big East and designed striking AU blue and red uniforms as well as a reasonable 30,000-seat stadium named Quillen Memorial Field, despite the fact that I'm not dead yet."

V-ball takes PL title yet again

Sunday's Patriot League Volleyball championship in Bender Arena had all the trappings of a typical match-up between AU and Bucknell. There were multiple lead changes, an aggressive Bucknell defense to counter AU's powerful hitting, and a yellow card given to the Bisons animated coach, Cindy Opalski. And, characteristic of the previous outings between the teams, the Eagles came out on top, proving to be too strong for the Bison.

All-day tourney makes weary wrestlers
