Nats walk-off again, this time on wild pitch

It was a crazy finish for the Nationals on Independence Day as they beat the Chicago Cubs 5-4 on a rare walk-off wild pitch that allowed right fielder Jayson Werth to score the winning run.

Stairs hits walk-off single in ninth, Nats win

The Nationals had an unlikely hero in their 2-1 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 1, as Matt Stairs, whose batting average is still in the .100s, hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning. The win also was the first for new Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson, who took over as manager on Monday.

Nats prevail again, winning streak now at eight games

While the Nationals’ June 18th offense was not as explosive this game as it has been the past four games, it didn’t need to be thanks to a strong start by pitcher Jordan Zimmerman. The Nats have now won eight games in a row, beating the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 Saturday.

Seventh inning rally saves Nats

Just when it looked like the Washington Nationals were headed for another loss in which they could not put runs on the board, the team rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six runs to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-6 June 14.
