Behind a strong effort from Michelle Kirk and a solid second-half performance, the AU women’s basketball team defeated the Colgate Raiders 80-58 last Sunday and notched their fourth consecutive victory.

Calling Wednesday’s win over the Detroit Red Wings a big one would be an understatement, because in reality the victory may be one that pushes the Washington Capitals to the next level and to a place where only the best of the best will be able to beat them.

Field hockey seniors seek to keep their AU ties

Athletes Anne-Meike De Wiljes, Savannah Graybill, Emily Stovicek, Alyssa Poorman, Carley Boyce and Rachel Carney recently completed their final field hockey season as AU students in November, winning the Patriot League Championship for the seventh consecutive year.

AU stuns DePaul behind transfer's 26 points

In his first game wearing AU blue transfer Vlad “the Impaler” Moldoveanu notched 26 points and drove the AU Eagles Men's Basketball team to a 62-57 upset over DePaul Wednesday night, their first win over a Big East Conference team in more than a decade.

Volleyball Briefs

The AU women’s volleyball team finished the season with an unsuccessful trip to the State University of New York at Albany over the holiday weekend.



Forward Stephen Lumpkins led AU in scoring with 23 points in the losing effort. The Eagles have lost four straight games. AU rallied in the second half but were unable to make up the lost ground.

Men’s basketball comes up short

Freshman Mike Bersch drained a late three-pointer capping a 15-6 AU run, Bender Arena erupted and the improbable 22-point comeback suddenly became probable. Unfortunately, a late string of free-throws from Florida Atlantic University held-off the strong AU surge as the men’s basketball team lost 81-69.
